What is a good starting point for a career in Finance?

Theresa asked:

What type of entry level position should I look for in order to gain experience in finance? I want to ultimately obtain a position as a financial analyst for a company. What type of entry level position would be a good starting point? I’ll take any suggestions!! Thanks!

Try getting an Inbound Customer Services for a major bank? All you need is a excellent interview.

If they don’t know where to start, many people start in banking or insurance. There are always positions available at that kind of firm.

Finance is another world in itself. Finance management is the backbone of organizations be it Corporates, business houses, Financial institutions. As much as it is a crucial aspect of a successful and profitable business, Financial Management yields a number of job options ranging from strategic financial planning to sales. So, it is upto you, from where you are starting. I would also love to share a website which can help you in getting solution of any business and finance related problems.

Financial analyst is the title of an entry level position.
So obviously being a fin. analyst shouldnt be youre career goal.

If you pursue a bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, or some comibination of the 3, and you maintain a good gpa, you will get a position as a Financial Analyst upon graduation. Most inv banks have a 1.5 to 2 year Analyst process… if you make it to the end you are either fired, go for your mba, or become an associate. . and move on from there.
