How can I find a list of businesses looking to finance equipment for their business?

I am more or less am looking for a free lead source for an equipment finance company I have started. I already have lenders to close deals, but I am looking for a free or cheap lead source. Any info would be gratefully appreciated.

The easiest thing to do is call the local government and ask for a list of business Licenses in the area. Ask them for Business name, owner name, phone number, address, annual revenues if they are available, and industry if they have it available. It is public information so if they give you any lip then tell them that and be persistent. For some reason some do not like to give that information out but it is public information. I have only had one municipality ever charge me and they charged me 15 cents per page. I think it cost $11 for 3,500 names.
This is a great source for free/almost free info.
One place to look is your library. I live in St. Louis the public library has access to a system called Reference USA. It provides great information on businesses including existing UCC liens.
Sorkins and manta is another great source. i think my work pays for that one though but I am not sure.
Good luck
