What is the best Mathematical Finance book for Beginners?

twstedlogic asked:

I am taking a class on mathematical finance (Discrete Time Models in Financial Math). However, the textbook for the class is very brief and barely explains any concepts. What is the best Mathematical finance book I can buy which covers forwards, futures and options, interest rates, managing risk using hedging, binomial and multiple period trees, bond models, numerial methods to price options.

OR are all books on these topics not good? I need a book that explains stuff instead of just stating formulas and stuff.

your best bet is definitely not barnes and noble etc. I highly reccomend going to any local college bookstore, such as your Local 4 year college- i would say your local county college, but chances are they dont offer many finance courses. Go to a 4 year university and buy their Corporate finance book. it will cover everything you need to know, and give you insight into some other topics that you may choose to study more indepth.
