What is the difference between a finance major and an economics major? Is there any?

Simone asked:

Hi;

The college I am going to offers a Finance major at their school of business and I’ve wanted to major in economics;

Is there a difference between the two?

Thanks!!

One Response to “What is the difference between a finance major and an economics major? Is there any?”

  1. Prospero Reincarnate Says:

    Economics is more wide in scope. i.e. a Finance major studies a lot of accounting, and microeconomics, while an Economics major studies Macroeconomics, and more theoretical concepts. But, often graduates of either degree find jobs with banks.
