How can I finance a car from Craigslist or a small dealer?
asked:
I want to buy a car (2002ish) from a used car lot of Craigslist for about 7k.
The problem is only the big dealerships offer the easy financing, and Craigslist and the smaller lots yield mostly to cash customers.

How could I finance a car from one of these? What’s a “lending institution” or something? It seems impossible!!
A specific service/website would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Local credit unions are perfect. Chances are the bank you belong to offers used auto loans as well.
I went to my local credit union, joined, told them what I wanted, gave them my info and walked out with a check made out to the dealership. It was just a little place, where the guy who owned it was the mechanic, salesman and manager all in one. I prefer to do business with the “little guys” and get treated like a person should.
